The MS-NAE5510-1 is not a field I/O controller. It is the supervisory engine that aggregates and coordinates Metasys building automation networks. It executes schedules, trend logging, alarm routing, and setpoint logic for connected HVAC, chiller, boiler, lighting and energy metering devices. It can operate as a BACnet Building Controller or report data to an ADS/ADX server.
A common site mistake is treating it as a generic replacement hardware swap. This unit’s operating system and database are tied to your Metasys release. Older firmware may not recognize newer database objects. Internal modem functionality also changes after Release 9.0; upgrading past that point disables the modem even if the hardware jack is present.
