It sits in Slot 1 of the 3500 rack to pull transient waveforms and diagnostic data for System 1 software, but it has zero authority over relay outputs or protection voting. If this card dies, your machinery keeps running; you just lose your ability to analyze the vibration signatures remotely.

We specify the 288055-01 because it integrates the old 3500/20 RIM and external TDXnet processor into a single slot. This reduces backplane traffic and simplifies cabling, but it also means you can’t just swap in an older 3500/20 without losing Ethernet connectivity. FAQ

Can I use this module for machinery protection?
No. The 3500/22M is explicitly designated as “Non-Critical Path” in the API 670 standard. It handles data, not trips. Protection must be handled by 3500/40, /42, /50, or /54 modules. Using this for protection is a safety violation.

Is 288055-01 compatible with 3500/20?
Physically, yes. Functionally, no. The 3500/20 is a Rack Interface Module (RIM) only; it needs an external TDXnet for Ethernet. The 3500/22M combines both. You can replace a /20 with a /22M, but you cannot replace a /22M with a /20 without adding external hardware.

Why won’t my System 1 software see the rack?
Check the IP subnet. The 3500/22M defaults to 192.168.0.100. If your PC is on 10.x.x.x, you won’t connect. Also, verify the “Rack Address” DIP switches on the front. If the switch says “0” but the software expects “1”, it will ignore the rack.

Does this support fiber optic Ethernet?
No. The 288055-01 is copper 10/100Base-T only. If you need fiber, you need the 3500/22M 146031-02 variant or an external media converter. Don’t try to splice fiber into the RJ45 port.

Can I hot-swap this module?
